Building Courage and Confidence

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Winston Churchill

Inspired by last year’s successes, we welcome school year 2025-26, by expanding and evolving our supported programs at the Baruyan Elementary School (BES)

This year’s programs include Basketball, Volleyball, adding the Philippines’ national martial art and sport, Arnis. We will continue to support Visual Arts, adding Journalism; as well as maintain our Scholarship, Feeding and Library programs, extending our reach to over 100 of BES’ 300+ students.

The sports programs cover training in the rules of sports competition and effective game techniques, and the application of required skills. This includes not only physical agility and mental alertness: in the case of Arnis, an appreciation for the Filipino culture, instilling national pride.

The visual arts program will nurture the students’ creative talents and encourage self-expression through the exploration of various art media. Participants in journalism will have various writing opportunities: sports, editorial, and news, both in English and Filipino, to foster responsible and ethical communication and critical thinking.

The Scholarship and Feeding programs provide school supplies and hot lunches to the students most in need; while a staffed Library creates a safe, go-to place for students to hang out while developing stronger study habits.

At the end of the school year, we will continue to recognize excellence, providing monetary awards to the students who demonstrated outstanding performance in each of the programs, including one student for overall academic excellence and another student for leadership.

We will also sustain awarding a laptop to the teacher recipient of the Lito Cantos Teacher Award, named after the beloved departed BES teacher. It has been a moving source of inspiration and motivation for the BES teachers.

Make it stand out

We thank Terry’s alumnae association of St. Theresa’s College, Class of 2000 for donating two laptops to support BES’ plan for a computer lab.

We commend the administrators and teachers of BES for their courage and dedication

We share with them, and with you, the passion and commitment to provide accessible education and champion the success of our aspiring students.

In the words of Principal Maribel Domingo: “At the heart of every thriving school is a vibrant tapestry of programs that go beyond textbooks and tests—programs that ignite dreams, uncover talents, and nurture the whole child. This year, our school proudly launched and sustained a series of transformative initiatives sponsored by UNLAD .These not only enriched learners’ educational experience but also empowered them to discover their voices, passions and potential.

As these programs continue to evolve, one truth remains constant: when pupils are given the tools, support, and inspiration they need, they become unstoppable. These aren’t just programs—they are promises. Promises that every learner, regardless of background or circumstance, will be seen, heard, nurtured, and uplifted. With continued support, collaboration, and creativity, we look forward to expanding these programs and planting more seeds of greatness in the hearts of the learners.”
